Family
What is a family? By just saying that you live with your family does not hold any values to being a part of the family. Four of five persons living under one roof does not become a family.
Family is a group of people who are linked in some way, love each other unconditionally, support through good and bad times without any expectations. From my point of view, family is where I belong to and from where my identity comes from. Every person is valued based on family. We all belong to a family and it is our family that keeps us together through all time, thick and thin. I would say without having a family, no person is complete and the completeness comes with good family bonding.
It is long lasting relationship that holds a bond with each other. It all forms when man and women become one and from there a family is born. There are many values that one has to learn to get the family bonding in the right manner. Bonding does not happen overnight. It forms with every second, every minute that you spend with your loved ones. The understanding, the acceptance, the belonging and the security all enclosed together is how a family bond is formed.
I believe a close family bond where I feel secure and where I trust that I have someone always there to whom I could turn to when I need them the most. Whenever I got into trouble, there is a family who is always with me. In fact, they understand me without saying anything. They have answers for my all questions too.
One incident I remember since my childhood. Since I was a kid, my grandfather was sick and he was hospitalized because of heart failure. At that time, all relatives pray for him. I did not realize the family values but as time would pass, I felt the bonding of the family and love that made him cured. It does not mean that he cured only because of family. We know that doctors and their treatment were important. When he got well, we went to the hospital to see him. We could see one type of sparkling in his eyes. He said that our presence gave him strength to deal with disease at that age.
This bonding helps to build a trust and hope that, no matter what, we have people to be with us in our toughest times. It is through a family that we learn the values of love, trust, hope, belief, cultures, morals, traditions and every little matter that concerns to us. A strong foundation for any individual comes from being with a supportive family.
My elder sister and I go way back. She has gone through so much in life and for that she is so strong. I have been there with her through all of it: happiness, excitement, and sadness. Not only have I been for her, but she has been there for me as well. Back in the days, after she picked me up from school, she would always buy me ice cream. She would also take me to the mall. Together we walked, laughed, and cried that we grew to have a really strong relationship. After her marriage, I could see her only once a year, but whenever she comes around, I really enjoy spending time with her. Now we are so far from each other but still feeling close as before.
I think being part of a blessed family is one among the greatest gifts that I get in my life. In fact the first gift that I get from God. To have parents and other relatives, who support, teach values in life, and give a strong foundation in character, teach the importance of love and being loved, trust to be there for one another and many other morals that could be obtained only from a family. A gift is not only with lovable parents, but siblings who care and love us beyond themselves. We cannot buy or demand all these things in life, as we are being given to understand their importance.
I have been after getting married in February this year and left my family but all are still close to my heart. Whenever I go, they are with me. Now, my husband's family became my new family so I got two parents, mine and my husband's, who love and care for me all time.
I feel that as a bond of love and intimacy are formed, we will develop closeness to our family. The father, son's bond, the mother, daughter's bond, the siblings, and relationships to all family members gives us the unity.
In a traditional Indian family, though the decisions are taken collectively after proper discussion among the elders, the words of the head of the family are final. A young person should always touch the feet of his elders. This is kind of respect for elders.
Not having a strong family base, may end up in troubles only. A child who does not feel loved or cared, will always turn to ways where he would find them and it may at times lead him in the wrong path. Even at that point, there is no one to correct and guide. The absence of a family is like vacuum, there is nothing that could fill it.
Not every people should believe the same about family but many people should believe in these values.
To be a part of a happy family, one should always thank God for the blessing we have in lives, as having a family who cares and loves us is the greatest blessing that any person could get in life. When we see broken families for reasons of their own, we should always remind ourselves, how lucky we are to be parts of a family that has been and will be with us all through our lives.
In conclusion, family should be our priority, and love them with all heart, as everything else we could get as per choice, but getting good parents. It is really important to me because there is where I get all strength to go forward in my life. Without them by my side, I could not be what I am today.
